One of the region's best debating schools
Having won the first round of the English Speaking Union Schools' Mace debating competition in February, a strong Lincoln Minster School team, who have honed their skills in the school's Magna Carta Debating Club, went forward to Harrogate over half term.
Nicholas Crossland, who had been voted Best Speaker of the evening at the preliminary event, was on good form with Karl Dudman and David Sayers and they defeated Runshaw College, Skegness Grammar School and Manchester Grammar School to go forward to the northern regional final in the afternoon.
In the afternoon they were in good company and even though they were not the outright winners that day, their performance puts Lincoln Minster School on the map as one of the best debating schools in the North of England, as Mr Thompson, President of Magna Carta, says: "a pretty huge constituency".
