A safe and welcoming home from home.
Three spectacular boarding houses in the heart of Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter.
All of our boarding houses are just a short walk to school and are overseen by highly-experienced and approachable boarding staff.
We pride ourselves on making every pupils’ boarding experience a happy and productive one.
We have a range of boarding options to suit every family.
Step inside a boarding culture where each boarder – whether termly, weekly or flexi – has equal opportunities and are all treated as equal members of our boarding family.
Boarders stay with us full-time, except for school holidays and exeat weekends (where pupils go home or stay with their Guardian).
This boarding option is available to pupils who live reasonably close to the school and prefer to return home at the weekend – this can be a great help if home is too far away for the daily journey to be reasonable.
Our most flexible boarding option (including one-off stays) may be available on occasion – subject to space and, in such circumstances, students may stay a set number of nights a week, or may vary their nights as they see fit, with others popping in only occasionally as space permits.
Flexi-boarding allows any day pupil to enjoy the facilities and companionship of the boarding facilities. It allows day pupils to experience boarders’ activities, to have a sleepover with friends, to solve the problem of needing to stay at school late on a particular day or simply to assist parents who might have a short-term commitment that takes them away from home.
The Mount – Boarding for pupils Years 3 to 9
“Welcome to the Mount Boarding House, the Junior boarding house at Lincoln Minster School. We are a mixed community of boys and girls, of varying nationalities.
“The Mount is a Victorian house set in its own grounds with mainly twin and triple rooms – boys and girls bedrooms are in different areas of the house.
“The Mount has two communal rooms where you can watch TV or DVDs, play video games, board games or just relax. There is also a music room, equipped with a piano, guitars and a microphone for you to do some music practice or just a jamming session.
“A well-equipped craft room ensures that there is always material available, whether it is for school homework projects, organised craft activities at the weekend, or just for when you are feeling creative.
“Outside we have a tennis court with netball and football posts, and grassed areas where you can play Swingball, badminton, or just relax.
“The garden is a popular area where all ages play together, we also have a greenhouse and garden plot, if you are interested in gardening.
“There’s always plenty to do here, with regular activities in the house and local area, including swimming, go-karting, eating out, trips to the cinema, shopping, wildlife parks and more. The school also offers a varied selection of after school sports, creative and other fun activities which boarders can get involved in.
“We have a prep room with desks and computers so there is plenty of space for you to do homework, with staff on-hand to provide support and encouragement, there is Wi-fi available to boarders too.
“We want you to be happy living here, and we have a friendly team of House Assistants and current boarders who will help you to settle in.”
