Home to our Senior girls from Year 10 to 13
Hillside is the friendly home for approximately 20 girls aged 14 to 18. The girls come from several different cultural backgrounds - French, Chinese, American and English. Hillside is situated in Lindum Terrace, adjacent to our main school with its position on top of the hill providing a panoramic view of the city of Lincoln.
The house is very much a 'home from home' with a comfortable common room and a kitchen in which the girls can make their own snacks.
The house staff greatly contribute to the friendly and happy environment in Hillside. Housemistress Lynda Dykes has the main responsibility for running the house, ably assisted by her husband Colin and from Kate Evans.
Linda Dykes, Housemistress, and Colin Dykes
Born and educated in South Africa, Mr and Mrs Dykes have lived in the UK since 2001. After teaching in London, in September 2004 they became the house parents of the senior girls' boarding house.
Mr Dykes teaches Maths and boys' PE and Games while Mrs Dykes has taught English, Drama and Religious Studies. At present she is working in the Learning Support Department. Prior to leaving South Africa, the couple taught at a co-educational independent high school where Mr Dykes (assisted by Mrs. Dykes) was housemaster of a boys' boarding house.
