On Saturday 23rd April, a small select group of our Chamber Choir performed in a concert of Combined Army Cadet Force Bands in our school recital hall.
The pupils were Alex Bradbury, Katie Care, Jasmine Clarke, Olivia Charlwood, James Davey, Ben Kirkwood, Orlagh Kirkwood, Isaac McCann, James Read, Lindsay Williams, Olivia Webb, Jasmine Veal, Alice Weatherley.
The Sovereign’s Concert was organised by ex-Lincoln Minster School pupil James Wood, 2Lt, Director of Music, The Band and Drums of Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force. It consisted of bands from Derbyshire, Hampshire, Isle of White and also Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Forces. They played a mixture of pieces ranging from Les Miserables to Fantasia on British Sea Songs. Our Choir sang as part of a massed performance of Sing by Gary Barlow, in which they were accompanied by the 90 strong band. It was a tremendous privilege to conduct this and the performance was very well received by the audience of over 100 people.
Our Choir, accompanied by Maurice Davies also performed The Lord is My Shepherd and May it Be. We received an extremely warm reception and have received many positive compliments of how the pupils sang with ‘clarity, balance and emotion’. National Music Advisor, Major Tex Calton commented “What a stunning performance Lincoln Minster School. Throughout the day I have been impressed with your professionalism and musicianship. You should be very proud.”
It was a fantastic experience for all involved and was so wonderful to see so many children enjoying taking part in music. Congratulations and a big thank you to all those from school who took part- very well done! We look forward to being invited to take part next year!
