Following a successful first football season as goalkeeper for Nettleham FC, Matthew Muir has been invited to join the Nottingham Forest development centre.
After just two weeks of training with them he was selected to play in the prestigious Pilgrim Cup, an event hosted by Boston United at RAF College, Cranwell involving over 200 teams and 4,000 spectators across two days.
Forest played in a group including teams from Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion, and after a difficult start against a very strong Derby County team, recovered well to end with a record of 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.
This saw them progress into the semi-finals, where they came up against a second Derby County team, and despite a man of the match performance by Matthew including several excellent saves, they slipped to a 3-1 defeat.
Well done Matty!
