Identifying special education needs at both ends of the spectrum
At Lincoln Minster School, we recognise that the scope of learning ability is very wide and we work hard to identify special education needs at both ends of the spectrum early on, putting in place measures to answer specific pupils' needs.
Learning difficulties/disabilities
The range and degree of learning difficulties/disabilities, behavioural problems or physical or sensory disabilities that might be found in a typical class will vary, but we recognise that we have children with a range of special education needs in our school.
The Lincoln Minster School Special Education Needs Policy will give you more information on our procedures for:
- The identification and assessment of pupils with learning difficulties/disabilities or special education needs
- Meeting the needs of each individual through a range of provisions
- Monitoring the progress of individuals and adjusting programmes to ensure that each child reaches his or her potential
Gifted and Talented
The Able, Gifted and Talented Team, led by Helen Brace, seeks to advise staff, through INSET training, of how we as a teaching body can identify, monitor and experientially enhance the educational opportunities of able, gifted and talented pupils at Lincoln Minster School.
Again, the Lincoln Minster School Special Education Needs Policy will give you more information.
