Raising funds and fostering social activities
This year's annual Friends' Summer Ball was another excellent occasion! Parents and staff got into the swing of the 1930s Hollywood style and danced the night away at the White Heather, Caenby Corner. Our thanks go to all involved in support and sponsorship - the organising committee, The White Heather, Heize Czimmerl, The Journal magazine, Marshall Jaguar Lincoln, Cafe Zoot, The Old Palace and Ruddocks.
The Friends of Lincoln Minster School exists to raise funds for projects across all three school sites and to foster social activities involving children, students, parents and teachers. We have donated many items to the school that enhance the experience of all students and children.
We meet on a regular basis during the year, typically towards the beginning of each month at 7pm in the Dining Room of the Preparatory School on Eastgate. Meeting dates are posted in the School Calendar. The current officers are:
- Melanie Weatherley - Chairman (Senior School parent)
- Ian Mathews - Deputy Chairman (Pre-Preparatory School parent)
- Linda Bourne - Treasurer (Senior School parent)
- Debbie Mathews - Secretary (Pre-Preparatory School parent)
In addition, the Principal of Lincoln Minster School and the Head of Preparatory School, together with a loyal core of parents and teachers, make up The Friends of Lincoln Minster School Committee.
To continue this level of support for our children at the school we need volunteers to either join the committee or help out at the events. If you could help or would like to get in touch on another matter, please contact us via one of the school offices or send an email.
One of our major fundraising events during the year is the Lincoln Christmas Market, where we sell refreshments from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon from the Preparatory School Dining Room and outside in the Courtyard. The stall is manned on a voluntary basis. Offers of help for this or our other events are always very much appreciated.
Recently we purchased a wall-mounted flat screen television with DVD for the Preparatory School, board games for the after-school club at the Pre-Preparatory School, a set of hymn books for the Recital Hall and a DVD camcorder and tripod for use on all sites. An ongoing venture is to add books to our newly refurbished Reading Room at the Senior Site and to add to the fiction libraries on all sites.
