A recent highlight for Prep School has to be the joint Advent and Hanukkah celebration which took place at Our Lady of Lincoln Church this week.
Pupils from Year 3 to 6 joined together with the Lincoln Council of Christians and Jews and presented an Advent and Haukah drama, as well as readings and the lighting of the Advent Wreath and the Hanukiah.
Another very special part of the celebration was the music. The pupils joined the congregation in singing some traditional Advent hymns as well as some already learned in school. The Hebrew singing was particularly moving as the pupils sang Ma’oz Tsur, a Hanukah poem and Hashkiveynu (Lay us down to Sleep).
As a school we are very honoured to be involved in this annual event which is such an example for different faiths working and coming together. Through this event we are able to increase the pupil’s understanding of the importance of tolerance and embracing one another’s culture living side by side in 21st century Britain.
