Have fun in the holidays with Active Zone
Ever-popular, Active Zone is our holiday club which runs during the longer school holidays. Any child between 3 and 12 can join the fun, whichever school or nursery they go to - they don't have to attend Lincoln Minster!
Run by dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified staff who work here throughout the school year, Active Zone is a well-planned mixture of activity days at school and trips away, often centred around a fun theme.
It is advisable to book early for Active Zone, especially on trips days. To find out more, please contact Becky Skelton on 07748 605617.
Our Sunny Summer 2013!
Miss Skelton writes:
Where did the summer go? No sooner had we started our first week of fun and madness, we were facing the sadness that it was nearly at the end!
As I sit and write this, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory seems a distant memory but one that I, and the children I am sure, will never forget! It was brilliant from start to finish: the emotion, excitement, amazing colours and special effects and of course the talent! The children, despite having sat on a fairly lengthy journey to London, sat glued in awe and wonder of Charlie Bucket and the Oompa Loompas. DO go and see it if you get the chance. Special thanks to Mr Mathews and Mr Stone for their help on this trip.
We have been all over this summer and we didn't have rain on any of our trips - perfect! We have seen almost every animal there is with trips to zoos, falconry centres, parks, woodlands and we even had them visiting school! The children have touched, stroked and held creatures as small as cockroaches and as big as dinosaurs! (Yes, dinosaurs... there was a very realistic, lifelike exhibition at Twycross Zoo!)
We have been to the seaside and thrown a message in a bottle out to sea, we've been on bike rides, fairground rides, tram rides, swimming pools and slides. It would probably be easier if I told you what we haven't done!
In school we had HUGE excitement with Ice Angels ice cream van visiting us, and equally huge disappointment when the van was broken and we had to see what we could find in the supermarket! The ice cream lady loved our school and our children and commented on their confidence when ordering their chosen treat, their understanding of money and their all-important manners! She was SO impressed that she is going to come back in October holiday club! YAY!
The bouncy castles and gorgeous gardens within school have been well used due to the glorious sunshine we had ALL summer! I think we only had to eat twice in the dining room (and one small rush into the cottage as an unexpected downpour hit us)... the rest of the time we enjoyed picnics in the shade of our trees! Perfect!
A lot of art and craft, science experiments, musical madness, discovering, exploring, partying, dancing, and PLAYING has been achieved this summer. I have fond memories of being a child that had a sense of FREEDOM - to go out and about on summer days and come home when I was hungry! Whilst our children may not have this quite the same as then, I love that in our school grounds they can somewhat experience a sense of freedom and enjoyment to create fond memories to take to their adult lives!
Holiday club however would not be this much fun if it wasn't for those that help me! Megan, Miss Gale, Mrs Clarkson, Mrs Campbell, Miss Foyster, Mrs Monk, Mrs Gainey, Mrs Nowell, Helen, Miss Wright, Mrs Evans, Mr Dave, Mr Bob, Mr Allan, Mr Andy and Mrs Simpson - I can't thank you enough for all that you do.
