A level Travel & Tourism requires students to run their own Travel Event – with this year’s students opting for a mini-cruise to Amsterdam! The event was a great success!
EVENT MANAGEMENT – Part One
We set off from School with Lewis in charge. As we embarked the ferry for the journey that would make up our ‘Event Management’ module for A2 assessment, our group soon booked the earliest slot to have dinner so we could dive into games and activities we had planned. First up was the team quiz! However, with BOTH teachers on the same team they clearly had an unfair advantage. Unsurprisingly they won, but to our credit it was only by a few points! We were up bright and early for our 6.30am breakfast slot before the bus transfer to Amsterdam. The city was amazing – so vibrant, colourful and full of new adventure. We ended our time in charge with a visit to see President Obama on his last day in Power…….at Madame Tussauds of course!

EVENT MANAGEMENT – Part Two
The preparation started months ago and last week it finally all came together as we set off to Amsterdam. Day 2 was our time in charge and it was action packed! We walked 6,388 steps and climbed the equivalent of 9 floors, just on Friday! Amsterdam dungeons was a highlight, where we were all scared witless including the teachers! The fun continued on to glow golf where 3D goggles made it a real challenge! It was a great trip enjoyed by everyone.

EVENT MANAGEMENT Part Three
Matt, Nick and I took charge on Saturday lunch time. We ate lunch beside the river then went for a tour all around Amsterdam in a river boat. While we were there it was National Tulip day, so we got to experience Dam Square covered in tulips and inflatables alongside our boat on the river. We had such beautiful weather while we were there with bright sunshine every day, even though it was freezing. Everyone loved all of the activities we had arranged while we were there and we all had free time so got to experience the city’s local restaurants and shops for ourselves. Amsterdam is such a beautiful city with so much to offer, everyone is already thinking of arrangements on when to go back.
