Nursery at Lincoln Minster School
Learning lifelong skills in a relaxed, engaging and homely environment.
Our OFSTED Outstanding rated Pre-Prep Nursery offers children aged 2 to 4 years a home from home where they can learn through play in a friendly and calm setting in idyllic uphill Lincoln.
We strive to create an exciting and inspiring learning environment in which your child will flourish; our aim is to cultivate inquisitive minds through encouraging children to ask questions, to investigate and to make their own discoveries during our thoughtfully planned activities.
We believe in providing a broad range of experiences to help develop a love of learning. We are also careful to make sure that classes are a sensible size to allow for positive social interaction between children and to ensure that each individual has their voice heard.
Wellbeing is at the forefront of our nursery provision and children practice mindfulness and relaxation as part of their learning which develops their emotional wellbeing and increases their resilience to stress, boosts self-confidence and enhances their performance and focus.
Early Years Foundation Stage
The start of your child’s learning journey
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the start of each child’s own learning journey and is designed to build the foundations of their learning in a safe, supportive and caring environment filled with opportunities for everyone.
Learning at Lincoln Minster School is fun, exciting and inviting, with all children learning through playing and by doing. We offer a broad curriculum linked through topics to provide opportunities for the children to extend experiences and further their learning and knowledge. Art, Drama, Music and Sport are key parts of the experience.
Above all, in every area we encourage independence, thinking and investigating, enquiring minds, imagination, creativity, self-confidence and communication. We treat every child as an individual and believe that happy children are learning children.
We use the Development Matters Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage, but we believe in a flexible approach – especially if that means taking a break to play in the first snow of the year or admire a rainbow!
The four key themes of the EYFS underpin all that we do:
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
With these four principles in mind, the curriculum features three prime areas of development and four specific areas of development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
The EYFS at Lincoln Minster School has been rated Outstanding in all areas; meeting the needs of all of our children, the children’s wellbeing, leadership and management, and overall quality and standard of our provision.
