The Arts: Drama

Creativity and individuality are celebrated throughout the school, with an endless array of opportunities for pupils to express themselves.

BREAKING NEWS: LMS Alumnus, Ted, offered a place at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London!

Congratulations to Alumnus Ted Latus, who has been offered a place on the Technical Theatre and Stage Management degree course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
‘Many of you will recall seeing Ted’s wonderful performances as Malvolio in Twelfth Night and as the titular role in Cyrano de Bergerac; what is less well known is that Ted also designed the lighting and constructed the set for both these Senior Plays (including making changes to the set in full costume, during the interval of Cyrano)! Since leaving LMS in 2019, Ted has been working full-time to help fund his studies and is currently part of the Housekeeping team at Lincoln Hospital. A man of many talents, Ted will start his course at RADA this September.
Well done, Ted – we are all so proud of you!’

Specialist teaching in a vibrant atmosphere; we believe that every child, whatever their ability or natural aptitude, should be able to enjoy drama and performance.

The experience of performing to an audience can be life-changing

Working as a cast, in which the finished product is more important than individual ego, is empowering and confidence building. The discipline required, whether it is as performer, technician or designer, is an excellent preparation for the world beyond school. Our specialist teachers encourage a sense of professionalism and production values, which results in work of a very high quality. It is also huge fun and an unforgettable part of school life for those involved.

From Early Years right through to A Level, everyone is encouraged to get involved.

Past productions have included adaptations of The Odyssey, and Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations, by Alan Aykbourne; Shakespeare productions at Lincoln Drill Hall including HamletMacbethKing LearRomeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night; Our Country’s Good; Guys & Dolls; West Side Story; Pillars of the Community; Oliver! The Crucible; A Christmas Carol; and Pride and Prejudice.

Set, lighting and sound are designed and operated by students. We pride ourselves on promoting professional production values and inclusivity. All plays are chosen to suit the abilities and strengths of those involved.
