Learning at Lincoln Minster School is fun, exciting and inviting, with all children learning through playing and by doing. We offer a broad curriculum linked through topics to provide opportunities for the children to extend experiences and further their learning and knowledge.
We strive to create an exciting and inspiring learning environment in which children flourish. Our aim is to cultivate inquisitive minds through investigation and questions, enabling the children to make their own discoveries through thoughtfully planned activities.
We provide a broad range of experiences to help develop a love of learning and our sensibly sized classes allow for positive social interaction between children whilst maintaining a focus on each child as an individual.
Developing enquiring minds
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the starting point of each child’s learning journey and is designed to build the foundations of learning in a safe, supportive and caring environment filled with opportunities. Children from two years of age can enjoy our Nursery where we offer a broad curriculum, providing fun and inviting opportunities for the children to further their learning and knowledge through playing and doing.
We encourage independence, enquiring minds, imagination and communication and believe that a happy child is more open to learning. The progression from EYFS to Key Stage 1 offers a seamless transition as children benefit from the security of a familiar environment with friendly faces.
Time to discover, explore, enjoy and delight
In Key Stage 1 high yet achievable expectations are set for children on an individual basis. Great emphasis is placed on finding each child’s range of abilities and building upon all areas of their learning to give them an all-round education.
We continue to focus on creating independent learners, developing positive self-esteem and encouraging support of others.
Core class teaching is supported with specialist input in specific subject areas; each class is taught by a class teacher who is involved in the planning and delivery of the core and foundation subjects with subject specialist teachers delivering lessons in Music, Spanish, PE, Games and Swimming.
The core subjects of Maths and English are distinct subjects and taught separately but they also often link to specific topics. Our Creative Curriculum topics are linked to History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology, Computing and where appropriate, Science. Key skills are taught within each topic theme.

What Parents Say About us
The children have so much fun here. My children have gained so much confidence, they progress all the time. Children at LMS are proud of achievements and everyone roots for everyone, there's a real family atmosphere where we all get together, I love the environment - it's great for the children. Teachers really know your child, it's really lovely. They get a lot of nurturing from staff.Parent, 2018
As soon as we came to see the Nursery when Ella was 18 months old, she just didn't look back. I think she found the atmosphere more homely here and felt safe and she settled straight in. Having a big wall and beautiful setting really helps. She still loves coming through the door. Ella is now in Year 2 and my son Sam is in Reception and they both love it. Coming to toddler 'Pop-in-and-Play' sessions before Nursery helped them to settle in. The school community is lovely and they have become more confident.Parent, 2018
