Scarecrow Competition sees Cinderella go to Doddington Hall

Scarecrow competition

Pupils get involved as Doddington Hall run their annual Scarecrow Competition for the third year running; this years theme is Grimms Fairytales, the scarecrows are to be made using recycled items.

Miss Skelton ran a competition for the children to design a scarecrow and the winning design would be made. Phoebe H in Year 2 designed Cinderella using an umbrella for her skirt, foil for her body – based on a cast of Miss Skelton’s body, Clingfilm to make her waterproof and a variety of other items to make her glamorous.

Children in after school club have helped Phoebe create the beautiful Cinderella and she is now on display at Doddington until 28th October.

If Phoebe’s scarecrow is chosen as the winner by the staff at Doddington Hall, she will win a Christmas Tree for her class.

Phoebe said:

“I have really enjoyed making the scarecrow of Cinderella. Before we made the scarecrow I tested which materials would be best to use with my mum. The umbrella was definitely the most waterproof but the paper towels let the water through very quickly. I hope Cinderella wins!”
