Local Collaboration to Train Global Golfing Talent

Co-educational day and boarding independent school, Lincoln Minster School has collaborated with Woodhall Spa Golf Management to deliver a new BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (Golf).

The level 3 extended diploma aims to develop a student’s theoretical knowledge within sports science and the golf industry whilst also developing their golf skills on a full-time performance pathway.

Pupils will have the opportunity to utilise the world-renowned facilities at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, the home of England Golf, and also used by the rising stars in the sport.

Pupils can also play the world-famous Hotchkin course (the 61st ranked course in the world), receive exceptional golf coaching, and will have access to a first-class academic provision at Lincoln Minster School.

Students on the programme can also have the chance to be part of Q&As with professional golfers, enjoy experience days at UK based tournaments and receive coaching from some of the leading names in golf coaching.

Simon Grocott, Deputy Head at Lincoln Minster School, said: "Having witnessed our students being coached at Woodhall Spa first hand on many occasions, the opportunity for any student to improve their game is truly immense and I believe, unrivalled.

“The BTEC programme ensures that students combine outstanding coaching with a qualification that will prepare them for the next stage in their golfing journey - whatever that may be.”

The latest development comes after the school was recently recognised nationally for Sporting Achievement in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2022.

Adam Keogh, Head Teaching Professional at Woodhall Spa Golf Management, added: “I’m extremely excited for the future of the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (Golf).

“For any aspiring golfer, the quality that the National Golf Centre and Lincoln Minster School represent, from golf coaching to academic provision, it's an attractive opportunity for a young golfer looking to take further steps in the industry.”

The aims of the programme are to prepare each pupil for an elite player pathway within both the amateur or professional game, and a career pathway within golf science; in strength and conditioning, nutrition, biochemist, data science or physiotherapist.
