Discover the joy of sailing

We are thrilled to announce that the Lincoln Minster School Sailing Club will commence on Thursday evenings starting from April 18, 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity for your children to embark on an exciting adventure, learning new skills under the guidance of our experienced LMS staff.

We can’t wait to set sail and create unforgettable memories on the water. Join us for an incredible sailing season at Lincoln Minster School Sailing Club.

Contact the school office if you would like your child to sign up or would like further information.

Catering to all levels

We welcome both recreational sailors and those wishing to gain qualifications. Each session will follow a formal structure based on the Royal Yachting Association National Sailing Scheme syllabus. While registration for the scheme is not necessary for casual sailing, those wishing to gain qualifications will have the opportunity to progress and potentially become full Sailing Instructors.

Preparation and equipment

Beginners should wear layers of clothing, a waterproof jacket, and waterproof over trousers if needed. We recommend avoiding jeans and wearing trainers instead of wellingtons. As falling into the water can happen, a full change of clothing and shoes, along with a towel, is essential. At the beginning and end of the season when the water is colder, a full wetsuit is recommended. Please note, sessions cut short due to insufficient preparation for cold weather will not be refunded.

Co-Curricular sailing theory

This year, we are also offering a Sailing Theory co-curricular activity to help students gain qualifications. Attendance is encouraged for those aiming to progress through the sailing grades.

Important Information

  • Transport: A minibus will not be available. Students must arrange their own transportation to and from the sailing club.

  • Attendance: Students should sign the register in reception each Thursday if they intend to sail.

  • Facilities: Changing rooms at the club will be open, but students are advised to change beforehand.

  • Parent Attendance: Parents do not need to stay on site for the duration of the session. However, please note that the gate to the sailing club is managed by Hykeham Sailing Club and must be locked after each entry or exit. We will try to man the gate at the start and end of each session but cannot guarantee it will be open outside these times.
