Pastoral Care

We are recognised for our excellent pastoral care and provide a warm and caring school community. We truly value and support one another, encouraging our pupils to embrace their unique strengths and potential.

Our exceptional standard of pastoral care ensures that each individual has the confidence to contribute and succeed at every stage of their school life. Pupils are supported by Mrs Charlotte Brigden, Deputy Head: Pastoral and Head of Boarding, Form Tutors and dedicated Heads of Year.

We firmly believe in valuing pupils for who they are and not just for what they can do. Each of our pupils is encouraged and supported to achieve their academic and social potential with personal, vocational and academic guidance along the way.

Our pastoral curriculum encourages the development of these skills through PSHE lessons, visits from external speakers, involvement in national anti-bullying and mental health campaigns as well as the opportunity to join and lead our pupil social action and wellbeing groups. As a result, pupils are afforded opportunities to develop and exercise important life skills.

Catering

Mealtimes are an essential part of school life and can make the difference between a good day and a great one, a sluggish afternoon or feeling energised and ready to learn. We believe in instilling a love and awareness of healthy eating and the benefits of a balanced diet from a very young age. Eating is also a social occasion and throughout the school it is a chance for teachers and pupils to sit down together and enjoy good food, freshly prepared on each site by our dedicated catering teams.

Locally sourced ingredients form the basis of our menus wherever possible across the school, and we are proud members of the Select Lincolnshire scheme. We have been delighted to win the ‘Teaching Establishment of the Year’ at the 2018 Lincolnshire Food and Drink Awards, and have been a Finalist for Food Champions in the Lincolnshire Education Awards 2023. Both of our kitchens, at Preparatory and Senior sites, hold a full five-star hygiene award from the City of Lincoln Council in recognition of our high standards of hygiene practices, training and management skills: awards of which we feel justly proud.

We are committed to meeting the dietary requirements of our pupils and cater for allergies, intolerances and special diets in a discreet and respectful way.

Our menus run on a three-week rotation with new menus introduced at the start of each term.

Friends of Lincoln Minster School

Friends of Lincoln Minster School (FoLMS) connects all those who are a part of the school to offer their support in a variety of social and fundraising events.

A welcoming community of parents, staff and friends of the school with a mission to make the school a better place for pupils to learn.

With the support of a number of local businesses, the Friends hold an array of events across the school year to raise funds in support of their missions. Recent events have included Summer and Christmas Fairs, quiz nights, a family movie afternoon and the annual FoLMS Summer Ball. All parents and staff are automatically members of FoLMS and warmly encouraged to become as involved as time and circumstances allow.

By getting involved with our community, supporters have the chance to meet new people, make a difference and enrich the school for the benefit of the pupils. Recent fundraising has enabled FoLMS to buy an overhead projector, outdoor play equipment, a mud kitchen for Preparatory, the provision of basketball hoops for the Senior school and high-vis armbands for the Preparatory pupils to wear on their way to and from school.

If you want to get involved in FoLMS in any capacity we’d love to hear from you.
