Food at LMS

Lincoln Minster School's catering service is provided by Lexington Independents.

Our school menu is appetising, nutritious, balanced, and designed to encourage children to enjoy food, learn, play and grow. Lunch is an integral part of the school day and something all children should look forward to. Lexington Independents' dedicated catering team ensures the dining hall is a welcoming and happy place for your child.

  • All items on the menu are freshly cooked by the catering team in the school kitchens to ensure we’re always offering fresh and nutritious food whilst minimising salt and sugar in recipes.
  • No undesirable additives or artificial trans fats are used.
  • The menus provide for all dietary and cultural requirements.
  • The suppliers adhere to all appropriate food safety standards.
  • The catering team is supported with skills training in fresh produce.

The menus are developed with Lexington Independents' in-house team of nutrition and dietetic experts to ensure they support pupils, parents and schools in nurturing healthy eating habits across all age groups.

The diverse menus include a wide variety of options to suit all tastes and are based on feedback from pupils, staff, the catering team, parents and guardians. There will be a three-week menu cycle that changes twice a year.

Allergen Management

Your child's health and safety will always be of the utmost importance to us and Lexington Independents. Their teams receive allergy training annually, and whenever there’s an update to allergen laws.

In the Prep School, having accurate information about dietary needs and allergies is crucial for Lexington Independents to prepare and serve meals that meet requirements. Their dietitians and catering team work together and follow a robust process, so you can feel reassured that whenever safely possible, an alternative menu will be provided.

Lexington Independents guide "Medical Diet Menus - A Guide for Parents, Guardians and Carers" contains further information about the medical diet process for prep schools and includes step by step instructions for you to record this information to ensure they are fully aware of any medical diet requirements.

In the Senior School, the catering team will provide accurate allergen information to your child. We ask that your child speaks to the team if they want to know about specific allergens so that they are able to make an informed, safe choice.

Eating a school meal is better for your child

  • They can save time & money
  • They’re nutritionally better than a packed lunch
  • They promote a varied diet and encourage new tastes
  • They support inclusivity, dining with friends
