Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

Pastoral care at Lincoln Minster School underpins everything that we do. Facilitating both the success and personal development of our students, enabling them to thrive academically and socially.

We believe that students need to feel happy, safe, and comfortable at school in order to achieve. Our high standard of pastoral care ensures that each individual has the confidence to contribute and succeed at every stage of their school life. Students benefit from a comprehensive and layered approach to support, which includes small tutor groups led by dedicated and experienced Heads of Year, supplemented by our pastoral team and curricular initiatives.

Our pastoral curriculum is designed to foster essential skills through PSHE lessons, the engagement of external speakers, participation in nationwide campaigns, and opportunities for students to join and take leadership roles in our social action and wellbeing groups.

As a STEER Champion School, we are dedicated to early intervention and proactive pastoral care. We carefully monitor our students' social and emotional development, allowing us to pinpoint when a child may need extra support before any challenges become apparent. Our pastoral team utilises this information to offer personalised strategies that enhance resilience, confidence and emotional regulation.

Form Tutors & Heads of Year

Each student belongs to a tutor group, where they receive support throughout their time at school. The Form Tutor serves as the first point of contact for students seeking guidance, as well as for parents who wish to discuss their child's progress and well-being. Tutor time is an essential opportunity for monitoring both academic and personal development.

Regular communication between Form Tutors and members of the academic and pastoral teams ensures a holistic approach when making decisions about each student’s needs.

Every year group has a Head of Year who is responsible for effectively leading their team of Form Tutors to ensure the highest quality of pastoral support is provided to students.
