At Lincoln Minster School, we aim to ensure that examinations are conducted in a calm, organised and supportive environment. Alongside preparing students academically, we place great emphasis on developing effective study habits and revision strategies that support long-term learning. This page provides key information for students and parents about examinations, including procedures, results infomration and guidance to support successful preparation.
Revision is embedded within everyday learning rather than being reserved solely for examination periods.
Knowledge organisers, retrieval-based homework and regular low-stakes quizzes enable students to revisit and strengthen their understanding over time.
Revision materials are made available through Showbie or Microsoft Teams, allowing students to access guidance, resources and tasks both in school and at home. A bespoke revision guide is also provided to ensure consistency across subjects.
This approach helps students build revision into a healthy learning routine and reduces the pressire associated with last-minute preparation.
Students should ensure they arrive prepared for each examination with the correct equipment and a clear understanding of the exam regulations.
The night before an exam:
When entering the exam room, students must follow official examination conditions.
During examination periods, mobile phones are not permitted in school during the exam day.
If a student needs to bering a phone for safety while travelling to and from school, it must be handed into Reception before registration for safekeeping. Phones can be collected at the end of the school day.
Failure to follow these procedures may result in sanctions, as strict regulations apply during examination periods.
During examination periods, iPads must remain locked in lockers in Form Rooms and must not be brought into exam rooms.
Students should ensure they have a suitable lock for their locker (combination locks are recommended).
Watches are not permitted in exam rooms, in line with national examination regulations.
If a student brings a watch into school, it should be handed in alongside mobile phones before registration.
Lincoln Minster School works with a range of national and international examination boards.
