Lincoln Minster School offers a plethora of sporting opportunities, enabling every pupil to discover, develop, and excel in areas that reflect their individual passions and talents. We uphold the principle that sport is for everyone, ensuring that pupils of all abilities engage in positive, enriching experiences that foster both personal growth and a lasting appreciation for the value of physical activity.

Archery

Archery is offered as a senior activity, taught by our qualified Science teacher, Dr Whiting. We are fortunate to have our own archery nets, enabling pupils to begin with soft archery and progress confidently to professional-standard equipment.

Badminton

Badminton is delivered through the Physical Education and Sport curriculum, with provision for four full-sized courts. It is also offered as a co-curricular activity, giving pupils the opportunity to refine their technique and teamwork skills.

Cricket

Cricket is offered as a senior co-curricular activity. Our facilities include full-sized indoor cricket nets and a popular bowling machine, which allows pupils to develop their batting skills in a controlled environment.

Cross Country

Our preparatory cross-country club has enjoyed great success over the years, inspiring pupils to challenge themselves through endurance running. At senior level, the running club continues to build on this enthusiasm as a co-curricular pursuit.

Dance

A diverse range of dance styles is offered at our Preparatory School and further encouraged through performance opportunities in Senior School. Pupils enjoy classes in ballet, modern, tap, and musical theatre, run in partnership with GoDance.

Duke of Edinburgh

We proudly offer Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, with the final expedition held in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Football

Football is available as an after-school club at our Preparatory School, supported by weekly coaching from Lincoln City Football Club. At Senior level, both men’s and women’s teams train under the guidance of Lee Frecklington, former Lincoln City player and our Co-Curricular Football Coach.

Judo

Our after-school Judo sessions are taught by Cassey Borril, a 2nd Dan black belt and former BJA Great Britain Champion, through Cassey’s Judo Academy.

Hockey

Hockey is taught throughout Preparatory School at Lindum’s Hockey Pitch and within the Senior School curriculum. It is also offered as a co-curricular activity at Preparatory level, promoting skill progression and team spirit.

Horse Polo

Our Equestrian Co-Curricular Programme offers polo, riding, and jumping, ensuring there is something for every horse enthusiast. Sessions are held year-round at Leadenham Polo Club, where pupils are guided by expert instructors and supported by dedicated school staff.

Netball

Netball is introduced through the curriculum and extended as a popular co-curricular activity, enjoyed by both male and female athletes.

Rowing

Rowing is the newest addition to our sporting programme, launched in 2025 in partnership with British Rowing and based at the Lincoln Rowing site. Pupils quickly embraced the sport, fundraising for their own kit and competing in their first races with great enthusiasm.

Sailing is available to Senior School pupils, offering a unique opportunity to learn seamanship and water safety in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Squash

Lincoln Minster School boasts exceptional success in squash, with nine teams reaching the National Squash Finals in 2025. Our coach, Fran Wallis, 2024 Midlands Over-60s Ladies Champion and England’s top-ranked player in her category, provides expert guidance.

Tennis

Lincoln Minster School are proud to have a unique and dedicated partnership with Bassline Tennis. 

Bassline provides Lincoln Minster School with a dedicated and tailored experience and fully trained, skilled coaches. This allows our pupils to improve their tennis game in an environment dedicated to tennis and reach their full potential.

We also offer a Tennis Performance Programme that provides pupils with the opportunity to pursue their passion in an industry-standard environment and with the support of experienced, expert professionals.

Sports Ambassadors

To help support learning, we have a wide range of Sports Ambassadors who share their expertise and inspiring stories with the pupils.

Access to a wide range of excellent facilities

Our Sports Hall at the Senior site provides excellence indoor facilities complete with indoor cricket nets, as well as an array of outdoor basketball, tennis and netball facilities.

Additionally, we make use of high quality facilities in close proximity to the school, including the all-weather hockey pitch at the Lindum Sports Ground where we have exclusive daytime use during term-time and on Saturday mornings. We also have use of eight all-weather tennis courts at the Eastgate Tennis Club and make ever-increasing use of sailing facilities in Lincoln.
