The Start of Your Child’s Learning Journey

At Lincoln Minster School we put our pupils first, seeking to ensure that their talents and abilities are nurtured and encouraged to flourish in an environment of support and appreciation. This approach is demonstrated throughout every age range, with a curriculum designed to build the strong foundations for success in both academic and personal development.

Learning at Lincoln Minster School is fun, exciting and inviting, with all children learning through playing and by doing. We offer a broad curriculum linked through topics to provide opportunities for the children to extend experiences and further their learning and knowledge. Art, Drama, Music and Sport are key parts of the experience.

Above all, in every area we encourage independence, thinking and investigating, enquiring minds, imagination, creativity, self-confidence and communication. We treat every child as an individual and believe that happy children are learning children.

We use the Development Matters Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage, but we believe in a flexible approach – especially if that means taking a break to play in the first snow of the year or to admire a rainbow!

The four key themes of the EYFS underpin all that we do:

  • A Unique Child
  • Positive Relationships
  • Enabling Environments
  • Learning and Development

A Day in the Life...

Holiday Club

During the school holidays, children can enjoy exciting activities and new opportunities in a safe and friendly atmosphere, with the familiar faces of the Lincoln Minster School staff.

We believe in giving the children a real break from their usual school routines whilst enjoying something different during the holidays, giving them a chance to build their social skills. Each day consists of learning whilst having the freedom to explore, enabling free play and the opportunity for impromptu activities – allowing their creativity to flourish.

Wellbeing and Outdoor Learning

We are committed to taking our learning outdoors, investigating nature and developing enquiry through exploration and hands-on experiences. Our new £250k outdoor learning and play facility  allows us to really embrace this ideal and helps our children to understand that learning is not simply something that happens inside the classroom -  it is shaped by all of our experiences and interactions.

Finding peace in the outdoors is one way that we embrace supporting our children’s mental wellbeing. Increasingly, it is apparent that children at an earlier stage are experiencing pressures like never before; reporting feelings of increased worry and anxiety. We are determined to be at the forefront of supporting children to find ways to manage these feelings. Our efforts saw us recognised as a Finalist in the national Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2023 for Pupil Wellbeing.
