After studying, Emma enjoyed a rich & colourful career as a singer with the BBC. She performed in the BBC Proms, made numerous recordings, broadcasts for Radio 3, toured across the world, performed many Premieres, and even got to work with Monty Phython! She worked with many wonderful soloists, orchestras & conductors including Sir Andrew Davies, Jiri Belohavlek and Pierre Boulez. She always enjoyed working on newly commissioned pieces as she got the chance to work closely with the composers and understand music in a different light.Emma left the South for Lincoln in 2010 to start her family & it wasn’t long that she was asked to accompany Market Rasen Choral Society & joined the Lincoln Cathedral Consort choir. While accompanying Market Rasen, she was asked to cover some rehearsals & realised she enjoyed being on the ‘other side’ of the platform. This led to her to train as a conductor with the ABCD (Association of British Choral Directors) and she was appointed Assistant Musical Director of Market Rasen Choral Society. In 2018 she took on the role of Musical Director & still enjoys leading them in all genres of choral music.
Emma has been fortunate to conduct several choirs, sharing her enthusiasm & musicality throughout & has enjoyed singing with the Lyndhurst Singers.Emma has worked at Lincoln Minster school for 4 years and is looking forward to working in the Music School to help guide & inspire the next generation of musicians.
We are proud to award Music scholarships to pupils who are capable of high levels of achievement and who we believe will make a significant contribution to the school. This is open to existing students, as well as external ones and applications are opened for entry into Year 7, 9 and 12. Once awarded, the scholarship will stay in place for the child’s time at Lincoln Minster School. However, scholarships are reviewed annually.
For more information, please refer to the Scholarship Information Handbook.
Here at Lincoln Minster School, we strive to give our students, and now external ones, the best possible education. Research supports the idea that music has a positive impact on students’ quality of life. Eerola and Eerola (2013) found that extended music education enhances perceived quality of school life, with students having general satisfaction about the school as well as a sense of achievement and opportunity. Not only does music impact this area of a child’s life, but it has also been found to foster prosocial behaviour and empathy (Kirschner and Tomasello 2010; Rabinowitch, Cross and Burnard 2013).
In addition to this, we believe Lincoln Minster Music School will help children to not only nurture a love for music, but also help them to develop and maintain new friendships.
