Wider Curriculum

Universities and employers are searching for candidates who possess a range of skills; a willingness to lead and participate, as well as those with solid academic results.

Negotiating your way through a highly competitive market place can be difficult, so we aim to equip and encourage pupils to develop a most impressive CV – one which will get them noticed for all the right reasons.

Every pupil will, therefore, participate in a comprehensive Key Stage 5 PSHE Programme with options ranging from: Study Skills, Stress-Busting and Relaxation, Independent Living (budgeting & personal finance, ironing, sewing, sexual health, relationships, drugs and alcohol and personal safety), as well as visits to Universities to attend personalised workshops in order to prepare for the UCAS application process.

Participation in a full range of extra-curricular activities, such as: Music, Drama, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Young Enterprise, the Magna Carta Debating Society, the Pegasus Society, Project India, the HOST project and The Earl Grey Society, to name but a few! They all come highly recommended by our own pupils. Such activities will broaden your horizons immeasurably and create a real sense of belonging to a community and inspire a sense of decency through your contributions.

In Year 12 all pupils are attend one Games session a week, where they can choose from a variety of different physical activities from the traditional sports such as rugby, hockey, football, squash, badminton alongside activities such as sailing, cycling and climbing.

We are committed to promoting the benefits of having regular exercise as part of every pupil’s weekly routine. Gym sessions, yoga and running are also offered during games sessions to ensure there is something for everyone.
