Pupil Joins Prestigious Music School in America

A Lincolnshire pupil has successfully gained entry into Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.

Reyna, a Year 13 pupil from Lincoln Minster School, competed against thousands of applicants to gain a place at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.      

Reyna will join an exclusive group of Berklee alumni, which includes the likes of Quincy Jones, Charlie Puth, Meghan Trainor and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

Berklee College of Music was formed in 1945 and has since been a top music school on the world stage, attracting talented young musicians from all around the world. Berklee alumni have gone on to write or release music, produce music for film and TV, and have earned a total of 332 Grammy wins.

Reyna said: “I feel incredibly grateful for the amount of support I have received from Lincoln Minster School.

“Berklee is not something I could have achieved without the guidance from both my subject teachers and the unwavering dedication from Mr Palmer and the Music Department.  I am excited to continue with my musical journey, and am proud to carry forward the lessons learned through my years at the school”.

This news follows previous successful Lincoln Minster School alumni who have gone on to study at other prestigious create arts colleges, including Florence Hand and Ted Latus (RADA) who have since worked at theatres such as the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, National Theatre, and the Young Vic Theatre.

Mr Jon Tyler, Head of Lincoln Minster School, added: “This is wonderful news for Reyna and her family, and we couldn’t be prouder.

“It's a tremendous achievement and richly deserved for someone who is not only a hugely promising musician, but a terrific young lady. She has grown in confidence so much during her time with us over the last few years, and we can’t wait to see where her passion for music will take her in the future.”
