Our School

Our Preparatory School, located just a short walk from our Senior School site, builds on the foundations established during Key Stage 1. We aim to provide a first-class education within a wonderfully dynamic and inspiring environment. We place an equal value on core, creative and technological subjects to provide a progressive curriculum, continually evolving to answer to the needs of modern society and encourage the development of crucial life skills including curiosity and self-motivation.

Wellbeing and Outdoor Learning

Your child’s happiness and needs are our priority and we believe the wellbeing of our pupils is central to their learning. We have created a caring environment, which embraces core values such as respect and excellence, fostering community through a philosophy of care. Leadership, loyalty and teamwork are fostered through our assemblies, form, and house system, and pupils are helped to understand how their actions have an impact on others.

Our Preparatory school was recently announced as a Finalist in the national Independent Schools of the Year Awards (2022) for Student Wellbeing. Our pastoral curriculum includes visits from external speakers, involvement in national anti-bullying and mental health campaigns as well as the opportunity to join and lead our pupil social action and wellbeing groups.

Finding peace in the outdoors is one way that we embrace supporting our children’s mental wellbeing, therefore, we are committed to taking our learning outdoors, investigating nature and developing enquiry through exploration and hands-on experiences. Our new £250k outdoor learning and play facility allows us to really embrace this ideal and helps our children to understand that learning is not simply something that happens inside the classroom. Instead, it is shaped by all of our experiences and interactions.

Holiday Club

During the school holidays we change the children's usual school routines to give them the opportunity to enjoy different activities and develop their social skills. Each day consists of learning in addition to the freedom to explore, experience free play and take part in impromptu activities. This allows for their creativity to flourish.

Co-Curricular, Trips and Residential Visits

We aim to help children increase their confidence and self-belief while cultivating new abilities. This encourages them to develop lifelong skills and interests and emboldens them to take on new challenges. The range of co-curricular activities is extensive, which complements lessons and gives further opportunities for pupils to hone their skills in various areas.

Our pupils can also enjoy a range of exciting educational and residential trips. This not only supports their learning, but also provides them with unique character forming experiences and lasting memories. Recent trips include a visit to RAF Waddington to meet the Red Arrows, a visit to the University of Oxford, and residential stays in France and London.
