Our Preparatory School, located just a short walk from our Pre-Preparatory and Senior School sites, builds on the foundations established during Key Stage 1.
We aim to provide a first-class education within a wonderfully dynamic and inspiring environment. We place an equal value on core, creative and technological subjects to provide a progressive curriculum, continually evolving to answer to the needs of modern society and encourage a development of crucial life skills including curiosity and self-motivation.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum incorporates the following subjects:
- English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Design Technology, Art, Music, French, Spanish, Computing, Games, PE, RE, Drama
- Timetabled orchestra lessons for pupils in Years 5 and 6
- Computing across the curriculum

Your child’s happiness and needs are our priority and we believe the well-being of our pupils is central to their learning. We have created a caring environment, which embraces core values such as respect and excellence, fostering community through a philosophy of care. Leadership, loyalty and teamwork are fostered through our assemblies, form, and house system, and pupils are helped to understand how their actions have an impact on others.
Our co-curricular activities programme provides children with a wealth of opportunities to pursue their interests or try something new. We aim to help children increase their confidence and self-belief, while cultivating new abilities which may develop into lifelong skills and interests and which encourage them to take on new challenges. The range of co-curricular activities is extensive at both Pre-Prep and Prep, which complement lessons and give further opportunities to hone their skills in many areas.
A message from the Headmistress…
At LMS Preparatory our curriculum is underpinned by our aims and values which are focused on developing the whole child. Our values CODE centered on Commitment, Opportunity, Determination and Excellence sets the ethos. The word “preparatory” is at the centre of all we do, not just preparing our pupils for the next stage but preparing them for life.

Our curriculum has been devised to ensure a balance of knowledge, understanding and skills with a cross-curricular approach where possible, and rich first-hand purposeful experiences. Our pupils have specialist teaching in some areas from Nursery and in all subjects from Year 4 onwards. The core subjects are complimented by the creative arts and modern languages as well as a varied sports programme and computing. At all times we have an eye on the future and ensure that enrichments activities such as enterprise and environmental challenges run alongside the core curriculum. We are a non-selective school and our curriculum is flexible and responsive to individual needs. The mark of our curriculum is the abundance of energy and enthusiasm in the classroom, on the games field and every other aspect of school life.
