Year 9 Options

Throughout Year 9, pupils will also start to consider their future with career lessons. At the end of the academic year, pupils will discuss their options with the Head of Year and plan which subjects to continue with to GCSE level, throughout Years 10 and 11 (KS4).

There are six compulsory core subjects which will continue to be part of the curriculum such as Mathematics, English, Core modern Foreign Language and GCSE Double Science. Pupils then study their additional four chosen options – gaining 9 GCSE’s in total. Pupils also benefit from PSHE, Games and Careers Guidance although these are not examined.

There are numerous possible combinations to allow completely free choice. Following consultations with pupils and staff, an option pattern will be issued from which pupils must then choose their option subjects.

Space, the final frontier - the school curriculum by Year 7 Pupil - Hermione

31 January 2020

LMS News Club is for budding young reporters. This report from Hermione Rolfe was her suggested topic based on a strong personal interest in space and astronomy. Her ideas and enthusiasm for everything to do with space are great - she's even got me reading up about nebula, now! Her main idea is that Space should be a larger part of the secondary school curriculum, maybe even a separate subject. Read her article and see if you agree!

What Pupils & Parents Say About us

My study mentor is so helpful and encouraging in supporting me in subjects I struggle with, and she is really approachable. I love being in the senior production, where you work as a team. My lessons in Psychology are exciting, interesting and we learn so much. Being in the prefect team has given me so many opportunities.
