Music

Where the Foundations are Enthusiastically Laid for a Lifelong Love of Music

Music is absolutely central to life at Lincoln Minster School.

Pupils of all ages are encouraged to participate whether through playing, composing or attending concerts and recitals. Music is a key component of the school’s curriculum throughout all year groups. Whether it’s the Year 5/6 orchestra, strings ensemble, jazz band or Preparatory choir, our pupils are encouraged to fully involve themselves.

As well as having a close relationship with the University of Lincoln music department, the school boasts a team of 13 peripatetic music teacher specialists, here to help each pupil to reach their aspirations.

Some pupils are part of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and take part in regular music festivals across the country. Other pupils have worked with artists such as Colabro (choir) and Jess Gillam, in partnership with the Lincoln International Chamber Music Festival.

The perfect learning environment.

Our dedicated learning space for music, the Harper Building, was opened at our Senior School site in 2010 and provides our pupils with a modern, bright environment in which to practice. It features a 200-seat recital hall, individual practice rooms, music technology suites as well as classrooms and a fully-equipped drama studio.

These facilities, together with the dedication and expertise of our teaching team, and the passion our pupils have for the subject combine to encourage young musicians to flourish.

Also, our Lincoln Minster Music School programme is ideal for those looking to explore music further, for both beginners and for those who are more advanced.
