Music is at our very heart
It has always been Lincoln Minster School's ambition to become a national centre of excellence for music, and over the years we have taken significant leaps towards fulfilling this goal. Our connection with Lincoln Cathedral, the inspirational leadership of Director of Music, Aric Prentice, and his rapidly growing team of committed, enthusiastic musicians, together with large-scale investment in state-of-the-art music facilities, all combine to make a very exciting place for young people to learn, grow and develop a real love of music.
For the majority of our pupils, singing in the school chapel or the cathedral is part of their routine, and something they will remember long after they have left to go on to fulfilling careers. Few will leave without a real admiration for the many pupils whose love of music they have enjoyed, whether at a jazz concert, a recital or at one of the many performances.
For an increasing number of students, the outstanding opportunities at Lincoln Minster School mean they can be immersed in performance and composition throughout their time here at the very highest level, working with professional musicians and performing in excellent venues. Recently pupils have performed with Opera North, the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the National Youth Orchestra, the National Children's Orchestra, English Touring Opera, Aled Jones and Hayley Westenra, and 2011 began with a performance in Trinity College, Cambridge.
